Q1.Why is democracy  considered  a better form of government than other forms? 
Democracy is considered a better form of government than other forms because: 
  1. Promotes equality among citizens.
  2. Enhances the dignity of the individual.
  3. Improves the quality of decision making.
  4. Provides a method to resolve conflicts.
  5. Allows room to correct mistakes.
Q2. List the common features of democracies of the world. 

Over a hundred countries of the world today claim and practice some kind of democratic politics and the common feature are:
  1. They have formal constitutions.
  2. They hold elections.
  3. They have parties. 
  4. They guarantee rights of citizens.
Q3. How do democratic government ensure transparency? Explain.

Democratic government shows transparency thorough the following practices and institutions:
  1. Regular, free and fair elections.
  2. Open public debate on major policies and legislation.
  3. Citizens’ right to information about the government and its functioning through Right to information Act.
Q4. "Democracy’s ability to generate its own support is itself an outcome that cannot be ignored". Explain. 

"Democracy’s ability to generate its own support is itself an
outcome that cannot be ignored"because:

  1. Democratic government is legitimate government.
  2. It may be slow, less efficient, not always very responsive or clean but a democratic government is people’s own government. 
  3. That is why there is an overwhelming support for the idea of democracy all over the world. 
  4. As the evidence from South Asia shows, that the support exists in countries with democratic regimes as well as countries without democratic regimes. 
  5. People wish to be ruled by representatives elected by them. 
  6. They also believe that democracy is suitable for their country.
